Once upon a time, there was this girl …. Buenas todu hamyo, guahu si Elizabeth San Nicolas. Sumåsaga yu’ giya songsong Barigåda. But now I stay in Dededo.
Yeah you:
Elizabeth Maria Bartley San Nicolas – born Dec. 1978 in Colorado Springs, CO – daughter of Ricardo Concepcion & Dorothy Jane, sister of Richard Benjamin. Mourner of Killer, miniature poodle. Most excellent girlfriend to Wayne. Fabulous full-time mother to Zoey Imara, her two fish, and maybe a pair of budgies in the future. Maybe.
Couldn’t be:
Born a true Army brat – we lived in Fort Carson, CO for a time, moved to Quincy, IL, then spent a few months in Texas – and then to [formerly West] Germany, Hessen, in 1984. In August of 1991 [after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the disbanding of the USSR in 1991] we moved to Lacey, WA where my father retired from the military. Then in 1993 my family relocated to my father’s place of birth, Guam USA. This is where I currently live – until the wind blows me someplace else.
Then who?:
I have a genetic condition called atopic syndrome. This includes atopic dermatitis (eczema), multiple allergies, and mild asthma. Enter immunotherapy, UV light treatment, yucky Chinese teas and acupuncture experiments, visits to the suruhana (witch doctor), steroid injections, countless creams and pills, etc. etc. Check out my links page to learn more about AD. My sense of humor keeps me sane – but my daughter keeps me humble and thankful for each day, no matter how itchy I am.
*YOU* stole the cookie from the cookie jar. Stop lyin’.:
Got all that? Still reading this? Wow. Here’s a cookie. I finally finished my B.A. in English at the University of Guam in December 2006. (yay me!)
I’m a part-time copy editor for the Pacific Daily News and a full-time mom. I’m enjoying life; one day at a time.
