June 2009.
So … the long awaited house entry begins. We’ve been working like crazy to find a place of our own, with my mom’s most-excellent assistance. And after weeks of house hunting we did find a diamond in the rough. Well, it may be more like a rough little diamond. But it gives me that “I’m home” feeling, which is all I really asked for from this crazy adventure.
It’s a 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath townhouse in Dededo. After looking at numerous houses in ditches, featuring questionable craftsmanship and/or surrounded by garbage this place looked like heaven. Literally. So we put in an offer, accepted a counter-offer, had our home inspection over the weekend, and now it’s just waiting on the financing. We’re supposed to hear back from the bank this week, and then the last thing will be having the property appraised. If the value is good, then we’re full steam ahead! And if not, then I guess it just wasn’t meant to be right now – and we’ll try again. But not right now, because I am BEAT. This house hunting stuff is exhausting.
And seriously – why are all the houses in my price range in low-lying flood-prone ditches?!?!
UPDATE! 11:32 a.m. – Everything went well with the bank. Our loan is good. Yay! Let’s start planning our housewarming party.
