I made this little Animoto short featuring some of my favorite mamas – and I wrote the little poem below for Mom and Granny. Here’s to all the beautiful, hard working moms out there! Happy Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day – 2009

My mother
And hers before
Up the branches of an infinite tree.
Each one has passed down to me
Goodness, love,
Strength and loyalty.
My mother, my grandmother
They give of themselves freely.
Always ready to dole out kisses on knees
A hand to hold
A shoulder to cry on
Copious amounts of tea and sympathy.
A loving word
A warm embrace
They’ve given me these things and more.
Much more than I can ever repay.
Now I am a mother to a daughter,
And all I’ve received will follow her
Down along the line
To the daughters of her daughters.
