family tree update

As most of you know, the real meat of my site is my genealogy research. I uploaded some new info tonight, thanks to Erica Salas Opena who added a beautiful new baby girl to her family over in the states. She was kind enough to send me a picture of her family.

I also need to add in my cousin Tricia’s new baby boy, Joseph, whom she gave birth to via C-section last week. I’ll wait until I get some pictures of him though.

too witty to print

The paper should be out on the street within the hour – so it’s probably okay for me to blog about work last night.

Today’s “Dear Abby” featured a letter from a 33-year-old woman who is still a virgin and has never been to the gynecologist. She’s scared to go because her friends have told her it is painful. Abby’s advice to her is to be an adult and get her butt to the doctor. Anyways – being me, and seizing the opportunity – my headline over it read: 33-year-old virgin, get thee to the gynecologist!

I thought it was pretty smart myself. You know … playing on the nun thing. Because she’s still a virgin. Get it? Lit-major humor is fun, eh?

Yeah … but then later that night, the first run comes up for us to have a final look at – and what do I see? One of the other copy editors changed my headline to: 33-year-old virgin, go see your gynecologist!

L A M E. He didn’t get my joke so he changed it. And he didn’t bother to tell me about it. He’s stale.

random thought #226

Working at the newspaper never leaves me feeling quite as accomplished as I do after cleaning my apartment. =|

Even so, I still want a Roomba! Robots are rad.
