As Inan

I’m busy with my Chamoru class – we’re trying get enough info together to nominate a WWII site to the National Register of Historic Places. My group is working on a site called “As Inan” in Pago Bay. On July 31, 1944 the 3/307th Marine Infantry freed 2,000 Chamorus from a concentration camp there. Those people were marched from Asan and Piti to Yona – some were sent to Manenngon, while others went to As InanĀ and other smaller camps.

Maybe I’ll dedicate an area of this site to that research. Many people have never heard of As Inan, and we need to talk about it and learn about while some of the manamko’ are still here to share their experiences with us.

Happy Birthday Maria!

Updated Dad’s tree again, courtesy of my Uncle Tony Salas. I’ve also added a “special thanks” list to the family tree main page.

Punzalan.net

I put all my Dad’s family tree data into one tree. I’ve also added a link to a cool site which has made great strides in putting all the MARC data online for us cyber-genealogists. Check the Punzalan.net site to see if any of your relatives are there.
